FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Everything you want to know before you book.

If you don't see your question here, feel free to reach out before booking. I'm happy to help.

  • Your first visit begins with a thorough intake conversation. I want to understand your full health history, your current symptoms, and your goals. I will also assess your pulses and look at your tongue. Plan for your first session to run a little longer than follow-up visits. You will leave with a clear sense of what I observed and what I recommend going forward.

  • Eat a light meal at least 1-2 hours before your visit. Wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows easy access to your arms and legs. Come as you are. There is nothing you need to do in advance.

  • Currently, I am a cash-based practice. I do not bill insurance directly, however I can provide Superbills for Acupuncture and Craniosacral Therapy, which you can submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement. A Superbill is a detailed receipt that includes all the information your insurance company needs to process an out-of-network claim. Skin services are not eligible for insurance reimbursement.

  • I bring my whole self to this work. Every session is built around your unique pattern, not a standard protocol. I regularly integrate multiple modalities within a single treatment, including Craniosacral Therapy, cupping, gua sha, moxabustion, and myofascial release. You will also receive a personalized treatment plan by email after each session, including dietary and lifestyle recommendations. I treat the whole person, not just the symptom.

GENERAL

  • Most people are surprised by how comfortable acupuncture is. The Acupuncture needles are extremely tiny. You may feel a brief sensation as each needle is placed, often described as a dull ache, heaviness, or tingling. Once the needles are in, most patients feel deeply relaxed. Many fall asleep.

  • It depends on your condition and how long it has been present. Acute issues often respond more quickly. Chronic patterns typically require more consistent treatment over time. I recommend starting with 4-6 sessions and reassessing from there. I will give you my honest assessment after your first visit.

  • Yes. I integrate Craniosacral Therapy into many Acupuncture sessions when appropriate. If you are interested in focusing more deeply on Craniosacral work, we can discuss the best approach for your needs at your first visit.

ACUPUNCTURE & CRANIOSACRAL

  • I apply a topical numbing cream of 5% Lidocaine before every Microneedling session, so most patients find the treatment very comfortable. You may feel mild pressure, a tickle or warmth in certain areas. Most patients are surprised by how relaxing the experience is.

  • You can expect some redness and mild sensitivity for 24-48 hours after treatment, similar to a mild sunburn. Most people return to normal activities the same day. I will provide full aftercare instructions at the end of every session.

  • Microneedling uses fine needles to create micro-channels deeper in the skin, stimulating collagen and elastin production at a structural level. Nanoneedling uses silicone tips and works only at the surface layer of the skin. It is gentler, requires no numbing, and has no downtime. It boosts serum absorption by up to 50% and is a wonderful weekly complement to deeper Microneedling treatments. It is also perfect for a pre-event occaision.

  • Facial Cupping and Gua Sha can be done 1-2 times per week. They are a great option to maintain circulation, reduce facial tension, and extend your Microneedling results between sessions.
